ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

Vaneer repair

I have a vaneer wardrobe that I purchased to resale in my antique booth. Unfortunately in transit it received a bit of water damage and the vaneer along the top edge in the back has warped badly. The damage is about 6 inches long along the top edge. All of the information I have on this type of repair indicate to reglue and press the vaneer back down onto the wood below. Either the vaneer wood is unusually thick or the warp is quite bad because I cannot get the vaneer to lay back down. It is quite stiff and because of the warp does not match the wood below in size. I do not want to incur more cost on this piece by taking it to a professional. Do you have any ideas? I am desperate.

Thanks
