Shellac is rated by weight. A 3lb. cut is a standard mix. You can aproximate this mix by loosely filling a container with shellac flakes then adding enough denatured alcohol to cover the flakes. Agitate the container every 1-2 hrs until the flakes have dissolved. Cut the mix 1/2 for the first couple of coats then use full strength for 2-3 coats. whne a good film has been built reub out with 0000 steel wool then wax with paste wax.
