In Response To: Re: Restoring Chinese Teak (Jim Cole)

Thanks! I had used Watco's Teak oil on the heavily carved furniture (pre-fire). Do you think that the shellac-like finish it left will have protected the pores of the teak sufficiently? Actually, I had not been overly thrilled with that finish, as the furniture had not had such a coating, originally. Now it's beginning to look like it was a blessing.

Also, I have teak table (called an altar table) which had NOT had the Watco Teak Oil on it, but rather straight lemon oil. It had never had more than a hand-rubbed oil finish on it. There is now staining in lovely "negative" geometric shapes, from exposure around protected places where sculpture had been. Any ideas on removing the stains to restore a consistent color?

Thanks again! Victoria
