Jim is right about recoating tung oil with shellac, so long as it is not pure tung oil. Which I have learned is not commonly sold today. Most tung oil avaible through suppliers is no longer pure tung oil but has dryers added to it. Tung oil, an extract from the Tung Tree nut, is very oily and should be avoided where removal or later coatings may be desired. The tung oil with naptha and other chemicals added does give you a reversable finish, and that is a better finish to me.
