In Response To: ironing out dents in wood? (Roberta)

You should use a wet (dripping) rag folded in several layers with the iron set on it's highest setting. If there is finish on the floor you should remove it first from the dented area. Steaming wood will often cause the finish to blush ( turn white) so you may have to remove the white area or treat it with a hair drier to remove the moisture. Length of treatment with the steam varies depending on the type of wood and the depth of the dent.
