In Response To: Remove Paint from Antigue Clocks (Skeet)

It depends on the type of paint. If it is water base alcohol will remove it. If it is oil base then a 50/50 mix of alcohol and lacquer thinner will remove it. Both can be applied using 0000 steel wool theat has been squeezed until it no longer drips. The trick is to work slowly and not let the solvents penetrate the original finish if it does it will remove the original finish much more easily than the paint.
