I have a cabinet circa 1880's from China. I think the wood is Elm. The cabinet has a modern lacquer finish. The cabinet has some damage to the wood where there are nicks and dime or larger size pieces missing. There are several areas that I need your assistance on with the restoration.
What wood fill materials do you recommend for filling the nicks and missing wood? There are 3 drawers. The finish is a dark Chinese lacquer finish. The drawers have TIN hardware. The lacquer needs restoration. Any suggestions?
I am going to refinish the modern lacquer. What materials do you recommend for Elm?
