ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

Desk

I have a solid mahogany desk that's about 150 years old (give or take) with an inlaid top. It has been in my parents' garage (wrapped in cardboard) for about 6 years. I unwrapped the desk about a month ago and found that it has cracked in numerous places (I assume from the weather, it was shipped from Panama to FL). I need a starting point on how to find a good, reliable, inexpensive company or whatnot to restore it, or at least to fix it. If nothing else, what can I do to stop the cracking until such a time that I can afford to pay the restoration costs? Please help. I live in Miami, FL.
