Removing paint from antique ceramic tile

Hi,

Well, the old pine washstand, thanks to the excellent advice and step by step instructions received here, is coming along fantastic. I am totally amazed at myself (touch wood, uhhhh, where, where).

Here's the current dilemma: as I've described it in my earlier post, the washstand has dark blue ceramic tile on the dresser top and surrounding the blue delft tiles of the backsplash. It's very lovely but the previous owners did a sloppy paint job (to say the least) and didn't mask the tiles--there is paint all along the edges. Does anyone know of a way to remove this paint without damaging the tiles.

I've tried a tiny bit of mineral spirits, but nope. I guess I could use paint stripper but I am afraid to hurt the tiles. Any suggestions? Has anyone encountered this kind of problem before.

Many thanks.
