If you are going to use the trunk for clothes storage you may want to cedar line it, you can get closet cedar liners from Lowes or home depot. Put in the bottom first then the sides up to the tray supports. It makes a nice looking and very effective liner. Once you have the hardware cleaned you may want to clear coat them to retard future oxidation. If you replace any of the leather parts use brass nails and predrill any holes then cleat the nails on the inside.
