That's a Shame!!!! I've been restoring antique furniture for some time now, Not refinishing, but restoring. There is seldom I time where I will use stripper. I put shellac over the original finish. Very nice. In your instance I would try to match the top back to the bottom by using BUTTON SHELLAC. This is a shellac but a deeper nutty brown color of shellac. If you feel compitent doing it your self, (try it on about 50 other things first, it's tougher than it looks!!) If not there are people that do this for a living. Look for restorers instead of refinishers. Any one that is good at french polishing will be able to do this as well. Good luck!! And put away that stripper!!!
