ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

antique bed

I have my great-grandmother's antique bed. It is over 100 hundred years old. For the last 15 years, it has been in a shed. It has been kept dry, but I live in south Louisiana where the humidity is very high all year. The finish looks very dingy and lacks any lustre. Should I totally strip it down? I have heard it is better to leave the original finish. I would like to put this bed in my house this year and need information on what steps and products to use to get this bed back in good shape. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
