In Response To: Roll top for a Roll top desk repair (Bill)

Remove the old glue with warm water or warm vinegar. A mediume weight duck is a a good coice for moaterial. Hide glue should be used to attact it to the slats. cove a piece of plywood with waxed paper and pull the duck tight over it then glue the slats in place one at a time and clamp them in place. The duck should be about 1" form the ends of the slats. When the glue has dried flex the tabour to break the glue between slats and clean up excess glue from the slats with warm water and a rag.
