Adhesive Removal & Crackle

I am new to restoration so all help will be greatly appreciated!

I acquired a pre 1920 sideboard that was stored in a garage. However, it appears that at one time someone used tape to cover it and the residue is still there. I have used lemon oil and 600 sandpaper to try to remove without damaging the finish. To the touch it is smooth but I can still see the adhesive design in the finish. Any suggestions on how to remove without damaging the finish?

Also, the lacquer seems to be cracking on the sides and drawer/door fronts. Should I use the lemon oil and 600 sandpaper to remove?

Thank you.
