Jim, Thanx for your reply. The time intervals sound right.

What proportions of linseed oil and turpentine bo you use? I seem to remember a 3 parts oil and 1 part turps and a 2:1 oil to turps.

In your finish, do you use the shellac as the top coat(s)?

I am making some unique walking sticks for high-end arts and craft shows in the Texas market. I have watched the 'stick" market during the past two show seasons, and there is definitely a niche for a unique high quality product. I gather the blanks and cure them for nine to 12 months. I have the first crop ready ready to start the finishing process this month, so they will be ready for the summer shows next year.
