ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

Warped Table legs

I have recently purchased a circa 1912 table that needs restoration. It has thick turned legs that are made out of 3 pieces of wood glued together then turned. The problem is that the table must have been exposed to water or weather or something because the outer pieces of wood in each leg have warped outward and separated from the middle piece of wood. My question is how can I unwarp the outer wood of the legs to their original shape so I can reglue them? I tried seperating the outer pieces and running an iron on the inside (convex side) of them to try and get it to unwarp so it is flat again but have not had any success. Is there anything else that can be done?
