If you have stenciling rather than a surface applied decal it is possible that the paint used for the stencil can withstand the removal process. It is also possible that the top drawer is the only one that had stenciling on it. You can check for that possibility by carefully stripping the lower corner of one of the lower drawers. If no border appears perhaps the top drawer was the only one that was stenciled. Regardless a hot air stripping gun that would allow you the opportunity to control the speed of removal may be the safest way to go. IF you can get your hands on one of these, rental, bororow, beg or buy practice on the side or mirror frame, somewhere it would seem that no stenciling would have been done. Good Luck!
