ANTIQUE FURNITURE RESTORATION DISCUSSION BOARD

50+ year old china cabinet

I recently inherited a 50+ year old China Cabinet. I am not sure of the exact date, but I beleive it was refinished in 1952 according to the writing on the bottom of it.

It has about 50+ year of wax build up on it to boot. What is the best way to remove the wax build up, and retain the current finish on the wood? I don't want to hurt the finish and destroy the historical value of the furniture.

Also, one hinge is broken and needs replaced, and missing one door knob. Is there a place to find matching antique knobs and hinges?
