Help! I ruined my antique table.

Help me please. I just bought an antique table and brought it home. It looked great - a few flaws but shiny and attractive. I was advised to clean it with a lemon furniture cleaner using 0000 steal wood and then use Restore-A-Finish to really make it look good. It ruined the finish. I tried useing Fornby's Almond Polish on it but it did not help - the finish is not only dull but I can see swirl marks and spots. I am so upset. Please advise me if there is a product that will restore my finish easy. Possibly an oil-based product. It honestly looks like if I put oil on the finish it would look so much better. Thanks
