cigarette burns

hi. i have a dining room table that is (i think) oak. the table is over 100 years old... how can i safely remove/repair cigarette burns on the top of this table? also, the legs have a few cat scratches, pretty deep in some areas.. is this fixable also? thanks for your time. susan
