The idea is to try to maintain around 30 percent moisture inside the building where you have the old furniture. A humidifier for winter and a dehumidifier for summer. Some try to maintain one room or area, as the whole house may be a problem. Wax will help with moisture migration in and out of the wood, as well, the bare wood can be oiled with a Danish oil finish and the best brushes for waxing details are the old fashioned shoe shine brushes.
